Mini Cooper S Supercharger PTO Gear Set – Eaton M45 Replacement
This replacement supercharger PTO gear set for the Mini Cooper S 1.6 is designed to restore drive to the Eaton M45 supercharger when the original gears have failed.
OEM PTO gears are not available to purchase separately, meaning a failed gear set often results in the supercharger being written off. These gears have been designed and manufactured exclusively by us as a direct replacement, allowing you to repair your supercharger at a fraction of the cost of a new unit.
We have retained the OEM tooth profile for high-speed operation, while uprating the contact surfaces to improve durability and service life. The gears are manufactured from high-quality heat-treated materials and produced to very tight tolerances to ensure correct fitment and smooth operation.
Why do Mini Cooper S PTO gears fail?
The PTO gearbox is a known weak point on the Mini Cooper S Eaton M45 supercharger.
The most common cause of failure is the PTO seal leaking, which leads to oil loss inside the gearbox. Once lubrication is lost:
- Gear noise increases
- Teeth begin to wear
- Heat builds up
- Gears eventually strip and fail
In severe cases, the gears can cut through each other, resulting in a complete loss of drive to the water pump, which can quickly lead to engine overheating.
