Powerhouse Automotive was established in 2009 and has grown from a small motorcycle workshop in Sheffield into one of the world’s leading motorcycle brake caliper specialists and one of Europe’s leading independent supercharger parts and rebuild specialists.

Today, from our workshop in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, we rebuild thousands of motorcycle brake calipers and hundreds of superchargers each year, while supplying specialist rebuild parts to home mechanics, professional workshops and trade customers around the world.

We’re still a team of enthusiasts. We’re unashamed petrolheads who love interesting machinery on two and four wheels – and some vehicles without much performance at all, provided they’re a bit different and have a high smiles-per-miles factor.

Here’s Our Story:

Sheffield, 2009

Powerhouse started in 2009 in a small workshop in the centre of Sheffield. Back then we performed general servicing & maintenance on motorbikes, as well as race builds on engines. We began to offer brake caliper rebuild services, and this side of the business grew rapidly. At the same time, due to our engine builds, we developed an interest in Eaton superchargers for JLR’s.

Growing into brake caliper specialists

After around 18 months, we moved to larger premises in Millhouses, on the outskirts of Sheffield. This gave us the space we needed to expand what we could offer and develop the parts of the business we were most interested in.

We particularly enjoyed the motorcycle brake caliper side of the business and decided to develop it further. The response was incredible, and it grew quickly. At the time, we were amongst the first companies in the world specialising in motorcycle brake caliper rebuild and refurbishment services.

It wasn’t long before we caught the attention of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine, who asked if they could visit the workshop, interview us and write an article about what we were doing. Read the full article here.

Alongside the brake calipers, we also found ourselves increasingly involved with rebuilding superchargers and developing our own performance upgrade pulleys.

Once again, it wasn’t long before we’d outgrown the premises. We still have customers today who tell us, “I remember when you were behind the train tracks in Millhouses!” It’s always good to hear – particularly when they’re still coming back to us all these years later.

Moving to Chesterfield and expanding the business

We moved from Millhouses, Sheffield to larger premises at Sheepbridge, on the outskirts of Chesterfield, and expanded the team at the same time. The additional space and equipment allowed us to bring every stage of our motorcycle brake caliper refurbishment service in-house, including stripping, rebuilding, media blasting and refinishing the brake caliper casings.

With more space and a larger team, we were also able to put considerably more time into developing our own brake caliper components. We continued expanding the Brakemasters™ range of motorcycle brake caliper seals, pistons and rebuild kits, covering an ever-growing range of motorcycle makes and models, while increasing the number of specialist brake caliper parts we could manufacture and hold in stock.

The automotive side of Powerhouse continued to grow alongside the motorcycle business. We expanded our range of performance springs for Jaguar and Aston Martin models, while continuing to develop performance supercharger pulleys for Jaguar, Range Rover and other vehicles using Eaton superchargers.

Powerhouse today

Today, Powerhouse operates what we believe to be the world’s largest specialist motorcycle brake caliper refurbishment workshop. From our premises in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, we rebuild and refurbish thousands of motorcycle brake calipers each year for customers across the UK and around the world.

Under our Brakemasters™ brand, we have developed one of the world’s largest ranges of specialist motorcycle brake caliper parts, including brake caliper seals, stainless steel pistons and complete rebuild kits. Our parts are supplied to home mechanics, professional workshops and trade customers worldwide, with tens of thousands of brake caliper rebuild kits supplied each year.

Our supercharger business has continued to grow alongside it. Powerhouse is now one of Europe’s leading independent specialists in supercharger repair, rebuilding and parts, with hundreds of superchargers passing through our Chesterfield workshop each year. We specialise particularly in Eaton superchargers and their applications, including units fitted to Jaguar, Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles, while also supporting many other supercharger applications.

Alongside our workshop rebuild services, we supply supercharger rebuild kits, bearings, couplers, seals and individual components to customers around the world. We also continue to develop our own performance supercharger pulley upgrades, particularly for supercharged Jaguar and Range Rover models.

Powerhouse is also an authorised Viezu dealer, allowing us to offer ECU remapping for a wide range of vehicles, including both performance and economy-focused ECU calibrations, from our Chesterfield workshop.
